Statement by William Mattox on Today’s U.S. Supreme Court’s Decision in the Montana School Choice Case

The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision today to end state discrimination against parents desiring a faith-based education for their children is an important step forward in the quest for equal opportunity in American schooling.

We applaud the Court’s recognition that decades-old Blaine Amendments, adopted in large part due to a pernicious anti-Catholic bias, have no place in a free and open society.

Now that the Court has overturned these ugly relics of a bygone age, we look forward to seeing Florida policymakers treat all families with children equally by giving all parents the opportunity to direct their child’s per-pupil allotment to the school that best serves their child’s educational needs.
