TALLAHASSEE, Fla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Florida lawmakers and a charter school pioneer will give presentations on school choice at the Stan Marshall Day Luncheon at 11:45 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25 at The Columns.

Speakers include Rep. Michael Bileca, chairman of House Education committee; Rep. Byron Donalds, sponsor of HB-1, a major school choice initiative that will be debated in this year’s legislative session; and T. Willard Fair, president of the Greater Miami Urban League.

The James Madison Institute is hosting the luncheon, and expected attendees include young professionals working on education issues in state government, leaders of education choice advocacy organizations, and JMI members. The luncheon is in honor of Dr. Stan Marshall, school choice pioneer and founder of the James Madison Institute.

This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2018, which will feature more than 32,000 school choice events across all 50 states.

“We are looking forward to another great Stan Marshall Day event,” said William Mattox of The James Madison Institute. “This annual celebration pays tribute to past leaders, gives attention to current policy priorities, and inspires those working for the ongoing expansion of learning options in the future.”

The Columns is located at 110 N. Duval St. in Tallahassee.
