JMI played a prominant role as the host State Policy Network member and sponsored a dessert reception for conference guests following the Krieble Lecture, which featured former United States Attorney Gnereal Edwin Meese III and Theodore B. Olson, the 42nd Solicitor General of the United States. In addition, JMI President Bob McClure was a panelist in a session on the Medicaid crisis and moderated a panel discussion on education reform.
Over five hundred men and women from the United States and forty foreign countries participated in the two day event. The theme of the conference was "Leading from Principle: Limiting Government and Expanding Freedom." Breakout sessions were held on topics including Social Security, Medicaid, property rights, school choice, tax reform, welfare reform, limited government and protection of the constitution. The Salvator Prize in American Citizenship was presented to the Mount Vernon Ladies Association for their long-standing efforts to protect and preserve the legacy of George Washington.
The Resource Bank provided JMI with representatives with an opportunity to network with think tank executives, public interest attorneys, policy experts and elected officials from around the country and the world. A number of JMI publications were on display, and copies of our recent studies on Florida's tax structure, privatization and Medicaid reform were made available to conference guests.
The Resource Bank provided JMI with an excellent forum to highlight the groundbreaking work being done in Florida to further the cause of freedom and protect the ideals we hold dear.
